Which Teams Manage To Stay Perfect and Which Remain Winless
Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers
The first game of the season might be the hardest to predict for the whole week. Overall the Lions are more prepared to make a deeper run this season. Jared Goff behind that offensive line continues to move the ball and their defense has made some improvements despite the collapse against Seattle.
Green Bay’s offense looked horrid for three quarters against the Saints but picked it up and clutched up to move into 2-1. Jordan Love has been a mixed bag, not a lot of upfront mistakes like turnovers but has not looked like an accurate efficient thrower through three weeks of football.
The Lions are the better team and even though playing in Green Bay will be tough, I’m riding with
the Lions to finish the game and take the division lead.
Prediction: Lions 24, Packers 20
Atlanta Falcons at Jacksonville Jaguars (London)
The Jaguars are an interesting one, some people are freaking out about their 1-2 record and their loss to a bad Houston Texans Team. Realistically, they can’t beat the Texans at all, through Jacksonville’s improvements this is the one team for whatever reason they can’t triumph. I’m still a believer in this team and see that they turn this around quickly.
The Falcons fell back to reality last week as they only put up 6 points against a so-so defense in Detroit. Regardless they started 2-0 due to some key playmakers on defense and the young brilliance of Bjian Robinson. Realistically this could be the start of a skid for the Falcons if they aren’t careful.
The Jaguars offense continues to clean up mistakes and stop dropping the ball, literally, and get a win in London.
Prediction: Jaguars 28, Falcons 17
Los Angeles Rams at Indianapolis Colts
The Rams surprised a lot of people in week 1 with a dominant win over Seattle. Since then, it’s been more of what has been expected, some talented playmakers but overall a team lacking in talent, especially in that offensive line. Now dealing with some injuries, Stafford wasn’t given two seconds against the Bengals in the second half before getting cracked.
Anthony Richardson should be back at quarterback the week which is good news as while still needing a lot of improvement he’s been really showcasing himself as a playmaker. Still, he needs to protect himself more.
This game could swing either way, I just expect Stafford to make some more big plays without back-breaking mistakes to lead to a Rams win.
Prediction: Rams 24, Colts 21
Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns
The Ravens could easily be 3-0. There were some huge missed calls by the referees that really hurt the Raven's chances. While things haven’t been perfect for them, especially the passing game not being in great rhythm yet. Lamar seems to be opening up the field more and running more than the first pair of weeks.
Defense is the name of the game for Cleveland, they are legit. Myles Garrett is unstoppable it feels like and if they win this game it’s going to be because they contained Lamar and kept putting him on the ground.
Despite the elite pass rush, I’m going with Baltimore to come out on top, Lamar gets lose enough times to put some extra points on the board.
Prediction: Ravens 20, Browns 17
Minnesota Vikings at Carolina Panthers
Two winless teams, although one feels like the much better team regardless, the being the Vikings. Kirk Cousins is still playing well and the defense should do enough to come out on top for them.
The Panthers' offense is stale and there is not enough on their defense around their stars to make a big enough stop and no one is stopping Justin Jefferson this week.
Prediction Vikings 30, Panthers 20
Cincinnati Bengals at Tennessee Titans
The Bengals got a must-win against the Rams on Monday night and while their offense is still surprisingly not great, they started to build it back to normal and should continue improving here and that pass rush is for real.
The Titans' offense couldn’t do anything against the Browns and while the Bengals' defense is not the same caliber, they’ll be enough to keep the Titans' offense at bay for most of the game.
Prediction: Bengals 23, Titans 14
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints
Should be a defensive game overall and Jameis Winston is most likely starting for the Saints this weekend. This could be either good or bad for the Saints. He’s most likely going to take more downfield shots which could lead to explosive plays and points or turnovers and points the other way.
The Buccaneers offense has still yet to be impressive, they moved the ball against the Bears, but everyone does, looked mediocre against the Vikings in week 1 and bad against the Eagles. If they win this game, it’s because their defense causes a few turnovers and they capitalize.
A tough one, but I think the crowd boosts their team to a close win.
Prediction: Saints 17, Buccaneers 14
Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills
The Miami Dolphins very well may be the hottest team in football, their offense has exploded and teams can’t contain them at all. They put 70 up last week without Jaylen Waddle, absolute insanity. It gets much harder this week at Buffalo, a series that hasn’t been kind to them as of recent, still, it’s hard to pick against the team that is clicking so well.
For Buffalo, their defense looks great, especially when compared to last season, and Josh Allen hasn’t had a perfect start to the season, especially in week 1. He was tremendous in week 2 and solid last week. He’s going to have to look more like that second-week performance for them to pull this out.
My mind says the Bills and that they should be slightly favored but I have to go with Miami, I can’t go against them until they prove they're not worth betting on.
Prediction: Dolphins 31, Bills 28
Denver Broncos at Chicago Bears
Someone has to win this week and maybe no other two teams need a win as badly as they do. What a mess for both of these storied franchises. Starting with the Broncos, there was some real optimism for this season and Russel Wilson to his credit has played better but everything around him is collapsing. They can’t finish games and their tackling and effort was an all-time poor performance against Miami.
Chicago’s season feels like it might just about be officially over if they lose against the Broncos. It would not surprise me to some coaching changes if they come and look like they have the first three weeks. Justin Fields hasn’t been great by any means but it also seems like he’s not getting a lot of help from his supporting cast.
While this score could vary, the Bears have just disappointed and can’t be trusted for the win.
Prediction: Broncos 27, Bears 17
Washington Commanders at Philadelphia Eagles
The Commanders are not a good team despite their 2-1 record. They’ve beaten a bad Cardinals team and a bad Broncos team before getting destroyed by the Bills. This week will be more of the same when they go against arguably the most talented team in the league.
The Eagles haven’t played their best football yet and still, they’re 3-0 without much trouble getting there. Once this team reaches their potential they had a bid as the best team in the NFL and my vote as that team and this week should be another building week for them as they move to 4-0.
Prediction: Eagles 31, Commanders 13
Pittsburgh Steelers at Houston Texans
The Steelers are an interesting team, I’m unsure of how good they can get, but it doesn’t feel like it’s a huge celling, most like the worst team in their tough division but good enough to take care of games like these and other lesser competition.
CJ Stroud has been good, better than a lot of people expected from a rookie and a team that was very poor a season ago, and yet he’s made the best of it and they kept their dominance over Jacksonville intact.
The Texans still have more improvements to be made before they can win consistently and lose to the Steelers here.
Prediction Steelers 21, Texans 17
Las Vegas Raiders at Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers are so talented for a team that 1-2 and Justin Herbert is a phenomenal quarterback who just went 40-47 and 405 yards and 3 touchdowns. The defense needs to figure it out and coaching has to improve and if they do this team is a serious threat.
The Raiders just have too many holes on defense, have some firepower on offense but not a quarterback to push the ball down the field, it’s a mix that won’t be enough to keep up with the Chargers.
Prediction: Chargers 34, Raiders 24
Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers
The Cardinals pulled off by far the biggest upset of the season beating Dallas. One of the least talented teams with a backup quarterback beat one of the most talented teams in the league, truly an impressive feat. However, history will not repeat itself as they are going into San Francisco to face an even better team and one that is so much more well-coached.
The 49ers are currently the best team in the NFC. I mentioned I believe the Eagles will get there and be the best but so far the 49ers have been fantastic. Expect them to keep rolling to a 4-0 start.
Prediction 49ers 30, Cardinals 17
New England Patriots at Dallas Cowboys
Dallas what happened? So much hype and buzz and rightfully so for the Cowboys as they had looked dominant against the two New York teams. All that to crash and come out beyond flat and lose to the Cardinals. I expect them to get more back on track after the embarrassing loss and improve to 3-1.
The Patriots could very much be 0-3, if weren’t for the tragic injury to Aaron Rodgers to start the season, they most likely would be. The offense just isn’t good enough or creative enough to give Dallas enough problems to earn a win.
Prediction: Cowboys 24, Patriots 10
Kansas City Chiefs at New York Jets
The Chiefs offense is starting to click more and more and look like themselves. It’s going to be tough to put up a ton of points against a great Jets defense but with them most likely controlling the ball due to Jet’s poor offense, they’ll put more than enough points up.
You have to feel for the Jets' defense, with even an average offense this team would completive in every game and be favored in a bit but their offense is horrendous, Zach Wilson has not improved nearly enough and he wasn’t expected to take the field this season but was forced to and he wasn’t ready.
Prediction: Chiefs 24, Jets 10
Seattle Seahawks at New York Giants
These two teams I would say are similar in terms of overall talent. I would say the Giants defense is certainly better but the Seahawks offense is definitely better. I am just not a believer in Daniel Jones, he’s never been shown to be a game-manager but even then he’s underperformed this season and has a quarterback rating of 70 and thrown four interceptions in three games. Should have a better game this week but unsure that it’ll be enough
On the other side, Geno Smith continues to be a good NFL quarterback. He’s accurate and uses his weapons as well and I would bet on him and his weapons doing enough to squeak out a win on Monday night.
Prediction Seahawks 28, Giants 27
