Undefeated Teams Remain; Cowboys Continue to Fall
Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are at 4-1, playing at a high level even if Patrick Mahomes hasn’t had the best numbers by his standards this season. Their defense might be the best it’s been while Mahomes is at quarterback which should worry every other team.
Any hope the Broncos had after their comeback win over Chicago a few weeks ago faded after the loss to the Jets. It’s a bad team with a horrible defense and they’ll get carved up by the Chiefs Thursday night.
Prediction: Chiefs 34, Broncos 17
Baltimore Ravens at Tennessee Titans (London)
The Ravens lost a head-scratcher last week against the Steelers with some bad play calling and even worse receiver play. Fortunately for them, their run defense is pretty good overall and should make it hard for the Titans to get comfortable.
The Titans' defense is good enough to make this game a grind of a game for both teams, but with it most likely being a tough day for the offense, they come up short in London.
Prediction: Ravens 21, Titans 17
Carolina Panthers at Miami Dolphins
The Panthers are the only winless team currently in the NFL and it seems like that won’t be changing this week barring a huge upset. Some good things from Bryce Young late in the game against the Lions that hopefully they can build on and keep making things easier for the first-overall pick.
The Dolphins are explosive and while unfortunately, they lost Devon Achane to IR for at least 4 weeks, still, there are so many playmakers on the team that they’ll glide to a 5-1 start
Prediction: Dolphins 37, Panthers 20
New Orleans Saints at Houston Texans
What a win for the Saints against the Patriots last week with the shutout. Their momentum is going up quickly and if they can capitalize against a reeling Texans team, they could catch fire.
The Texans last week were a bit disappointing and a sign that realistically they are not ready yet and from being nearly a winning record team, there is a good chance they fall to 2-4 after this week.
Prediction: Saints 24, Texans 20
Washington Commanders at Atlanta Falcons
The Commanders are reeling big team. In Primetime, at home, against the winless Chicago Bears, they get slammed 40-20. It’s a bad look for sure and the momentum they had after going head to head with the Eagles is far gone and since it’s on the road it’s a tall task getting back on track this week.
The Falcons and more specifically Desmond Ritter just don’t lose at home and this should be a simpler matchup than even the Texans game. Ritter’s home record remains perfect in a solid win for the Falcons.
Prediction: Falcons 24, Commanders 21
Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars
The Colts had a good emotional win last week where they lost Anthony Richardson who reportedly could be out 8 weeks. While they had that win, they’re a bit outmatched by a more talented team who they’ve already lost to week 1 and are on a roll and they lose that magic of Richardson’s dual-threat ability.
A good two-week stretch for the Jaguars in London going 2-0. Building some nice success and a huge win over the Bills which can’t be overstated. Trevor Lawrence has been precise and avoiding interceptions and the run game has been going. They get their third win in a row and take control of the AFC South division.
Prediction: Jaguars 27, Colts 17
Seattle Seahawks at Cincinnati Bengals
The Seahawks are an underrated team who are solid everywhere and have a good quarterback in Geno Smith. Realistically there is no reason they shouldn’t be able to go to Cincinnati and beat the Bengals. Still, it’s hard to pick them outright considering how talented the Bengals are.
The Bengals looked like they might’ve turned the corner last week with a dominant win and a great performance from Burrow and Chase. Can they repeat it? They very well might but until they can show consistency, I’m going with the Seahawks in an exciting game.
Prediction: Seahawks 28, Bengals 27
Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears
The Vikings have had a tough break this season with a hard schedule and this is one of their easier matchups and still, it could be a tough win. A couple of weeks ago it would be a no-brainer but with the Vikings losing Justin Jefferson to IR and the Bears looking a lot better the last week it could be a tough matchup regardless of who gets the win.
Finally, the Chicago Bears won another football game after blundering the Broncos game, they bounced back well against the Commanders in a strong fashion. How about Justin Fields 8 touchdowns and 1 interception in the last two weeks. If he has a similar performance not only will they most likely win but he’d be on track to remaining the starter potentially next season. Still, I’d trust the Vikings in a close high-scoring game.
Prediction: Vikings 34, Bears 31
San Francisco 49ers at Cleveland Browns
The 49ers are the best team in the NFL, any questions about that were answered in the 42-10 win over the Cowboys was truly spectacular. It’ll be interesting seeing them go against the great Browns defense and see if they can repeat a similar success, if they do the league is in trouble.
Deshaun Watson should be back but no guarantees, still that situation was beyond weird, and losing Chubb was massive, they played a good game but eventually got overwhelmed and lost to the top team in the NFL.
Prediction: 49ers 27, Browns 17
New England Patriots at Oakland Raiders
The Patriots need changes; they need offensive changes. They need to hire an offensive coordinator who is innovative, young, and exciting to bring life to the offense. They need changes to the personnel, make draft selections, and put resources into the offense or else they’re going to continue to put up disappointing performances like they did last week.
Raiders are still not a great team by any means but they can win scrappy games with some talented personnel and some playmakers. While their defense is not good, the Patriots offense is worse and enough for them to get the win.
Prediction: Raiders 20, Patriots 14
Detroit Lions at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
This could be the toughest game to call this week, if the location was reversed it would be a bit easier but it’s tough to win in the heat of Raymond James Stadium. Still, I believe in the Lions, they, in all honesty, should be 5-0 and they’ll show the league again that they’re for real as they move the ball against a good defense for the win.
The Buccaneers could still win the game, they’ve been better than expected with their vets all playing extremely well, and yet I don’t see it being enough against one of the best teams in the NFC.
Prediction: Lions 27, Buccaneers 23
Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles Rams
The Cardinals are competitors; they play every team tough even if they don’t always come away with the win. That’s a good sign for their future even if it’s a rough season the rest of the way though.
For the Rams, they got Cooper Kupp back last week and he didn’t miss a beat. The duo of him and Puka Nacua is going to be too much for the Cardinals to contain and they move to .500.
Prediction: Rams 31, Cardinals 23
Philadelphia Eagles at New York Jets
The Eagles continue to find ways to win even if they aren’t always overly dominant they still control these games and go home with the win. This week should be no different for them as they remain undefeated going 6-0.
Zach Wilson continues to grow a bit week by week even if his stats aren’t crazy by any means. They got a close hard-fought win over the Broncos last week but the Eagles are just a bit too much for where the Jets are right now even if they keep it competitive for the majority of the game.
Prediction Eagles 28, Jets 17
New York Giants at Buffalo Bills
Could be the biggest blowout of the week with the Chiefs game. The Giants are such a mess, the offense is the worst in the league with the Patriots with the worst offensive line and now Daniel Jones most likely won’t suit up even if he hasn’t played well.
The Bills lost a tough one while in London against the Jaguars. People tend to overreact though, the Jaguars are a good team and the Bills were a little flat despite a good performance from Josh Allen. It should be a much different story this week for Buffalo.
Prediction: Bills 38, Giants 13
Dallas Cowboys at Los Angeles Chargers
Another tough one here and overall I’d say the Cowboys are the better team and should be favored but still it’s tough to pick them after last week. They got mauled by the 49ers and the Cardinals' loss looks worse and worse every week. While very capable they fall short in Primetime to the team with more momentum.
The Chargers are coming off of a bye week and a win before that while the Cowboys got handled last week. They have the momentum advantage as well as just the quarterback play. In Primetime, I think Justin Herbert does enough to secure them a huge win against Dallas.
Prediction: Chargers 31, Cowboys 28
